Understanding the Candidates Area

The Candidates area lists applicants across your company’s job postings in one Candidate List, so you can find people, open applications, and take status-based actions without opening each job first.

Access the Candidates Area

You can open the Candidates area if you are:
Hiring Managers and Hiring Influencers only see candidates for jobs they are assigned to. Employers and Recruiting Feature Admins see candidates across the company.
  1. Sign in to BerniePortal.
  2. In the top navigation, select Recruiting.
  3. In the secondary navigation, select Candidates.
The page heading is Candidate List.

Candidate List

Each row is one application. Columns:

ColumnWhat it shows
StatusUnder Consideration, Hired, Declined, Declined/Keep In Mind, or Withdrawn
NameLast name, first name. Select the name to open the candidate’s application. A NEW badge appears when the application has not been viewed yet. See How to View a Candidate's Application
Job TitleThe job for this application. If the person has more than one application at your company, the row also shows (plus N more)
ActionsStatus- and role-dependent controls in the actions menu (see below)

Status, Name, and Job Title are sortable. Empty state: No candidates yet.

Use Search Candidates in the secondary navigation to find candidates by name. Matching names appear in a results list; select a name to open that application.

Actions

Open the actions menu on a row. Available items depend on status:
Decline and Reconsider are available to employers, Recruiting Feature Admins, and the job’s Hiring Manager. Hiring Influencers can view the list but cannot complete those actions.

When you decline, you pick the job if the candidate has more than one, and you can optionally send a notification and select Consider this candidate for a future position (sets status to Declined/Keep In Mind).

These flows start from a candidate’s application (or Job List), not from the Candidate List actions menu:
