Send a message to a candidate in Recruiting. Messages stay on the application and job so your hiring team can follow the conversation.
Who can message a candidate:
You can message a candidate if you are:
Hiring Managers and Hiring Influencers can message candidates for jobs they are assigned to. Employers and Recruiting Feature Admins can message across the company.
To access:
- Select Recruiting in the top navigation.
- Open candidates using either path:
- Select Job List, open a job, then open that job’s Candidates list.
- Select Candidates to work across jobs. For an overview of that list, see Understanding the Candidates Area.
- Select the candidate’s name (last name, first name) to open their application. For what appears on the application, see How to View a Candidate's Application.
- Select Messages in the left sidebar.
You can also open Messages from a job’s left sidebar (next to that job’s Candidates list) without opening an application first. There is no Message item in the actions menu on the Candidates list.
To create a new message:
- Select Create New Message.
- Complete the Create a new message form:
- Job — choose the job (required when messaging from the candidate’s Messages page and the candidate has more than one application; it is selected for you when there is only one)
- Message For — choose the candidate (required when messaging from the job’s Messages page)
- Subject — enter the subject
- Template — optionally choose a saved template (default is None)
- File Attachments: — optionally attach files (up to 5 files; combined size must stay under 20MB)
- Enter the message body
- Select Post.
The candidate and hiring-team participants on the thread receive an email with the message and a link to sign in and respond.
To view or reply to a thread:
- On the Messages page, select a thread’s subject to open the conversation.
- Enter your reply (you can use Template and File Attachments:), then select Post.
Unread counts appear as numbered badges next to the subject. To remove a thread, use Delete in the actions menu.
