How to Submit a Buildout Request & Open Enrollment

A huge part of our support model is that our BerniePortal Operations Team builds out the benefits module for our broker partners’ clients. This is for new groups being added to BerniePortal and renewals for existing groups.

Navigate to your "Employer List" and select "Request Employer Build-out"

This will direct you to an online BerniePortal Build-Out Request Form.
  1. Submit the buildout request with the necessary information.
  2. You will receive an email with confirmation of receipt. This will come from the Operations team member that will be completing the build-out.
  3. After the build-out is complete, the Operations team member will reach out to schedule a review of the information to ensure everything is correct.
Once the review call is complete and everything is confirmed, you're ready to upload the employee census (new groups to BerniePortal).
  1. Click here to review how to add employees via census upload. (You will need to be in Edit Mode for the client to do this)
  2. Click here to review the census formatting rules.
Lastly, it's time to open enrollment and notify employees know it's time to elect their benefits. (If this employer is not hosting an open enrollment at this time, please disregard these steps.)
  1. Click here to learn how to open enrollment.
  2. Click here to review how to send a notification to employees that it's time for open enrollment.
    1. QUICK TIP #1: If this is a new group to BerniePortal, it's best practice to include their login instructions so they know how to access their account. Click here to review which login instructions are applicable.
    2. QUICK TIP #2: Keep the custom message template you create housed in your files! You can resend the open enrollment reminder as many times as you like and you could use the same template for all of your groups.
