What happens when laws change—will my handbook be updated automatically?
No. Your published employee handbook does not update itself when employment laws change. You still need to review and approve updates before re-issuing the handbook to employees.
The Smart Employee Handbook Builder is part of BerniePortal Compliance and opens in Mineral. Employers and Compliance Feature Admins reach it from Compliance → HR Resources, then Access HR resources.
When a law change affects a handbook policy, Mineral sends an alert that identifies what changed, which state it applies to, and which policy needs updating. Updated compliant language is pre-written for you to review and approve, then re-issue to employees (including e-signature collection when you use that option).
BerniePortal does not rewrite a published handbook on its own. Staying current means acting on the alert in Mineral, then redistributing the approved handbook.
