What happens if employees are not assigned to a subgroup?

Your 1095-C forms will not be generated. BerniePortal only creates forms for employees assigned to a 1094-C ALE subgroup. Unassigned employees will be skipped during form generation.

Why This Matters

If you generate forms without first assigning all employees, you may:

  • Miss required filings for full-time employees
  • Need to regenerate forms after correcting assignments
  • Risk IRS penalties for incomplete filing

How to Prevent This

Before generating forms, always complete Stage 1: Organize:

  1. Go to Employees > Filter > "1094-C ALE - Not Assigned"
  2. If any employees appear, assign them to the appropriate subgroup
  3. Once no employees appear under this filter, you're ready to proceed
