Time Subgroups let you apply different timesheet due days, available projects, and clock-in IP restrictions to groups of employees.
Who can configure subgroup settings
Employers with Time and Attendance enabled. Open Time in the top navigation, then Subgroups in the secondary menu.
To access a subgroup’s settings:
- Log in to BerniePortal as the employer
- Select Time in the top navigation menu
- Select Subgroups in the secondary menu
- In the Time & Attendance column, select the subgroup name to open its settings
Use the left sidebar to move between Date Attribution and Due Date, Projects, and IP Address.
Date Attribution and Due Date
Choose the weekday timesheets are due for this subgroup. The page also shows how overnight hours are assigned; that method is set when the subgroup is created and cannot be changed afterward.
To set the timesheet due day:
- Select Date Attribution and Due Date in the left sidebar
- Under Timesheets due on, choose the weekday from the dropdown
- Select Save
Under Assign Hours To, the page shows either Clock in date (hours go to the day the shift starts) or Clock out date (hours go to the day the shift ends). This setting cannot be changed after creation—create a new subgroup to use a different method.
Projects
To assign projects to a subgroup:
- Select Projects in the left sidebar
- Under Available Projects, check the projects that should be available to this subgroup
- Select Save
IP Address
Limit clock in and clock out to the public IP addresses you approve. If no addresses are listed, employees are not restricted by IP.
To add an approved IP address:
- Select IP Address in the left sidebar
- In the Add an IP Address field, enter a public IP address
- Select Add—the address is saved when you add it
- Repeat for each additional address
To remove an address, hover the Actions control for that row and select Remove. Removal is saved immediately. Private IP addresses are not supported.
