PTO Dashboard: How to Submit a PTO Request, Review the PTO Policy, and Estimate Future PTO- Employee

Use PTO Dashboard to view your PTO balances, submit a time-off request, review your employer's PTO policy, and estimate your balance on a future date.

Who can access PTO Dashboard

Active employees whose employer has PTO enabled and who are assigned a configured PTO subgroup.

To submit a time-off request, you must have at least one PTO approver assigned. If no approver is assigned, Send returns Please contact your administrator to assign at least one approver.

To access PTO Dashboard:
  1. Log in to BerniePortal
  2. Select PTO in the top navigation menu
  3. Select PTO Dashboard in the secondary menu
To request time off:
  1. On PTO Dashboard, select Request Time Off in the top right of the page header
  2. In the Request Time Off dialog, select a PTO Type
  3. Under I want to take, select Whole days or A Partial day
  4. For Whole days, select Starting and Ending dates (use the same date for a single full day). For A Partial day, select Day, then set Time in hours and minutes (0, 15, 30, or 45)
  5. Review Duration, which updates automatically from your dates and time
  6. Optionally add notes: Anything else your approver should know? for whole days, or What hours do you need off? Anything else your approver should know? for a partial day
  7. Select Send
After you send a request, it goes to your PTO approver for review. To track or cancel requests, see My Requests: Review PTO Request History and Cancel PTO Requests- Employee.

To view the PTO Policy:
  1. On PTO Dashboard, select View Full PTO Policy in the top right of the page header
  2. Review the policy text in the PTO Policy dialog, then close the dialog when finished
To estimate future PTO:
  1. On PTO Dashboard, go to Your Information and Tools
  2. In FUTURE PTO ESTIMATOR, select a PTO Type
  3. Enter a Date in Future using the MM/DD/YYYY format
  4. Select CALCULATE
Results show Available Balance:, Future Accruals: or Future Allotments: (depending on your employer's approach), and Total on the date you entered. The estimator assumes no additional time is taken off between now and that date. Unpaid PTO types are not included.

Your PTO Balances and company holidays

Your PTO Balances shows each PTO type with Total, Available:, Requested:, and Approved:. Definitions on the page:
  • Available: PTO available to request
  • Requested: PTO requests waiting for approval
  • Approved: PTO requests that are approved but not yet used
Requested: and Approved: open My Requests in a new tab. COMPANY HOLIDAYS lists scheduled holidays for the current year, or shows There are no scheduled company holidays at this time.
