"Minimum Essential Coverage Offer Indicator" error (1095-C Error Only)

This IRS e-filing error means (a) Minimum Essential Coverage Offer Indicator on Form 1094-C was not completed for every month in Part III. ALE Member Information - Monthly.

Who can do this

Employers with Benefits enabled, and Feature Admins with 1095 administration rights. Global Admins signed in as the employer follow the same steps.

To correct the Minimum Essential Coverage Offer Indicator:
  1. Sign in to BerniePortal.
  2. In the top navigation, select 1094/1095.
  3. Select Subgroups.
  4. On the 1094-C Subgroups page, open the subgroup by selecting its name in the Subgroup Name column, or select Edit in the Actions column.
  5. Scroll to Part III. ALE Member Information - Monthly.
  6. Under (a) Minimum Essential Coverage Offer Indicator, do one of the following:
    • Select Yes or No in the All 12 Months row, or
    • Select Yes or No for each month.
  7. Scroll to 1094-C Form. Additional Configuration and select Corrected Form.
  8. Select Save configuration.
  9. Repeat for each 1094-C subgroup that needs the same correction.
