How to Approve and Deny PTO Requests

Time off requests must be approved or denied by the employee’s designated PTO Approver.

To access: 
  1. Log in to BerniePortal.
  2. From your To-Do List, click on the employee’s name under “PTO Requests.”



To approve or deny an individual request:
  1. Go to the “Approver PTO Requests” section.
  2. Under “Pending Requests,” you’ll see all open requests with the following information listed for your reference:
    1. Request type
    2. Start and end dates
    3. Amount of time off requested
    4. Any notes submitted by the employee (hover over the note bubble to view).
  3. Hover over the action wheel next to the request you’d like to review.
  4. Select “Approve” or “Deny.”


Note: Depending on your organization’s email settings, employees may receive an automatic notification when their request is approved or denied. Learn more here


To approve or deny requests in mass:
  1. Select “Approve All.”
  2. When the Approve All confirmation module appears, click “OK.
