How to Create a New Benefits Subgroup

Benefit subgroups let you offer different benefits and contributions to different sets of employees. For an overview of the Benefits Subgroups list, see Understanding the Benefits Subgroups Area.

Who can create a benefits subgroup

Employers with Benefits enabled, and Benefits Feature Admins, can create a benefits subgroup. Users who are masquerading as the employer use the employer path.

To create a benefits subgroup from Benefits:
  1. Select Benefits in the top navigation menu.
  2. Select Subgroups in the secondary navigation menu.
  3. In the Benefits Subgroup Name field below the list, enter a name (placeholder: What would you like to call this Benefits Subgroup?).
  4. Select Add.
For Benefits Feature Admins, selecting Benefits opens the Subgroups list directly—continue from the Benefits Subgroup Name step.

The new subgroup appears on the Benefits Subgroups list. Next, open the subgroup and configure its settings—see Benefit Subgroup Configuration Area.

To set up a COBRA / State Continuation subgroup, see Creating a COBRA Subgroup.

To create a benefits subgroup from Account:
  1. Open Account from the account menu. For steps, see How to Access Your Account from the Account Menu.
  2. Select Subgroups in the left sidebar.
  3. Select Add a new Subgroup (top right).
  4. In the Where is it used? dropdown, select Benefits.
  5. Enter the Subgroup Name.
  6. Select Add.
The subgroup appears under Account → Subgroups and under Benefits → Subgroups. Configure it next using Benefit Subgroup Configuration Area.
