Correct Mistake

Mistakes happen! That’s why BerniePortal allows for those mishaps to be corrected. In the event that an employee needs to make a correction to their benefits (must be within 30 days in BerniePortal), employers and benefit admins may open elections to fix a mistake. As a safeguard, employees must be opened for a "Correct Mistake" by an admin - this action cannot be completed by the employee. The 30-day adjustment period option will show under an employee’s action wheel until 30 days after their effective date.

To open an employee for "Correct Mistake":
  1. Locate the employee in the "Employees" list.
  2. Hover over the action wheel for the employee and select "Correct Mistake."

  3. Once an employee is opened for "Correct Mistake" they will display as "Awaiting Elections" status.
  4. The employee can now log in to BerniePortal and make changes to their elections.
  5. If the employee is eligible to enroll in both Prior Offer and Current Offer plans based on their effective date, the employee will be prompted for two enrollments (Prior Offer and Current Offer). Want to learn more about Prior Offer? Check out these articles:
Note: If you're an employee who needs to adjust your elections, please contact your HR administrator.
