Can I update a group number after initial configuration?

Yes, you can update a group number after the initial configuration. The Carrier Exchange allows you to edit group numbers at any time if you discover an error or if the carrier changes the group number.

How to Update a Group Number

Once you've configured a carrier integration and it appears in the integration table, the group number is displayed as a blue highlighted link. To update it:

  1. Navigate to the Configure tab in the Carrier Exchange
  2. Locate and expand the employer whose group number needs updating
  3. In the integration table, find the group number (displayed in blue)
  4. Click on the blue highlighted group number
  5. Enter the corrected group number
  6. Save your changes

When to Update a Group Number

You may need to update a group number in several situations:

  • You initially entered an incorrect group number
  • The carrier assigned a new group number (such as at renewal)
  • You discover the group number was transposed or had typos
  • The employer merged plans or restructured their group

Important Considerations

  • Updating the group number may affect the integration's ability to sync properly with the carrier until the new number is validated
  • If you're updating a group number for an Active integration, there may be a temporary disruption in data synchronization while the system validates the new number
  • Always verify the correct group number with the carrier before making changes to ensure continued accurate data transmission

If you have questions about whether a group number change will impact an active integration, contact your BerniePortal Account Manager for guidance before making the update.
