What Are 1:1's and How to Submit Agendas & Recaps - Admin

A 1:1 is a dedicated messaging thread between managers and their direct reports. While many Employers use this tool to submit agendas and notes for regular meetings, it's also valuable for documenting important events and milestones.

1:1 meetings can be scheduled at whatever cadence works best—weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or otherwise—and are meant to provide an ongoing channel for open communication. These conversations cover an employee's responsibilities, achievements, and concerns while creating opportunities for continuous feedback, coaching, and growth-oriented dialogue. Beyond their developmental benefits, 1:1s also serve an important compliance function.

To access: 
  1. Log in to BerniePortal 
  2. Select “Performance” in the top navigation menu
  3. Select “1:1” in the secondary navigation menu


To submit a 1:1 agenda with your direct manager:
  1. Select “My 1:1” in the left-hand menu
  2. Enter your message in the text box and select "Post"

  3. All previous messages remain available for review, complete with corresponding dates, times, and names


To submit a 1:1 agenda with your direct reports:
  1. Select “My 1:1” in the left-hand menu
  2. Select the name of the desired Employee to view the message chain

  3. Enter your message in the text box and select "Post"

  4. All previous messages remain available for review, complete with corresponding dates, times, and names

Note: Employees displayed in the top right corner of the 1:1 thread are ‘Viewers’ with access to review the corresponding 1:1 thread. Learn more about visibility settings here!
