Understanding the Pending Tab - Onboarding
The Pending tab under Onboarding is labeled Pending Accounts in the page header. It lists new hires who have not activated their BerniePortal accounts yet. It does not track onboarding document progress.
Who Can Access
Employers with Onboarding enabled, and Onboarding feature administrators, can open the Pending tab.
To Access
- Log in to BerniePortal as the employer or an Onboarding feature administrator
- Select Onboarding in the top navigation menu
- Select Pending in the secondary menu
Who Appears on Pending
A hire appears on Pending until their account is activated. That includes:
- New hires added through onboarding who have not activated yet
- Recruiting candidates marked Hired who have not completed account activation
When every hire has activated, the page shows: All employees have activated their accounts and appear in the Employees list.
Pending Accounts Table
The table columns are:
- OnBoard Date
- Name — opens the hire’s account view
- Title
- Contact Info
- Actions
You can sort by OnBoard Date or Name. The default sort is oldest onboard date first.
Onboard a New Hire
Select Onboard a New Hire on the Pending page to open the onboarding modal. For field-by-field steps, see How to Add a New Hire.
Actions
In the Actions column, open the cog menu for a hire. Available options depend on how the hire was set up:
- Resend Mail — available when the hire has an email address. You can review the address, select Edit to change it, then confirm with Yes, resend this message. See How to Resend an Employee's Activation Email or Redownload an Employee's Activation PDF.
- Activate account — available when the hire has an email address. Use this to activate the account from the employer side.
- Redownload PDF — available when the hire has no email address and a login code was created. Covered in the same activation email article linked above.
- Delete — available to employers (not Onboarding feature administrators). Deleting a pending hire removes the hire record and related onboarding assignments. This cannot be undone.
Leaving Pending
A hire leaves Pending after their account is activated, or after you delete them from Pending. Activated hires appear in the Employees list.
