MFA

MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) adds a one-time code—sent to an employee's confirmed phone number or email—to their BerniePortal password login. MFA is included with Compliance Premium; it is not available on Compliance Free.

Employers can enable MFA, track which active employees have set it up, and send reminder emails to employees who have not. Compliance Feature Admins can open this page when MFA is already enabled to track status and send reminders; only the employer can turn the MFA setting on or off.

To access MFA:
  1. Select Compliance in the top navigation.
  2. Select MFA in the secondary navigation.
To enable MFA (Compliance Premium):
  1. Under MFA Settings, turn on the MFA toggle.
When MFA is enabled, employees complete setup at login. The page shows an Active Employees table with MFA Phone Number, MFA Email, and MFA ENABLED status for each employee.

To remind employees to set up MFA:
  1. Select Send Reminder.
  2. In the Reminder to set up MFA dialog, enter a message in Reminder Message.
  3. Select Send Reminder.
The reminder is emailed to active employees who have not set up MFA. You can turn the MFA toggle off later under MFA Settings to disable MFA for the employer.

If you are on Compliance Free:

Turning on the MFA toggle opens an upgrade message that MFA is only available in Compliance Premium. Select PURCHASE COMPLIANCE PREMIUM (or Purchase Compliance Premium on the card below the settings) to go to the Compliance upgrade page.
