When you masquerade as an employee, you log in as that person and can view and edit their BerniePortal account — including personal details, benefit elections, and paperwork — exactly as they would. Any changes you make while masquerading are saved to the employee’s account. Employers, feature admins, and global admins can masquerade as employees within their organization.
Masquerade as an employee
- Select the Employees tab in the top navigation menu, then select List.
- Find the employee’s row and hover over the action wheel (gear icon) in the Actions column.
- Select Masquerade.
- In the confirmation window, select Ok. You’ll be logged out of your admin account and into the employee’s account, where you can act on their behalf.
Return to your admin account
While you’re masquerading, a banner at the top of the page reads “You are logged in as [employee name].” Select Return to admin account in that banner to switch back to your own account.
Before you masquerade
You can only masquerade as employees who have activated their BerniePortal account. For employees who haven’t activated yet, the Masquerade option doesn’t appear in the action wheel. See Activate Account for details.
Other ways to masquerade
- From your Dashboard, use the Quick Masquerade search in the QUICK ACTIONS panel: enter the employee’s name, select them from the results, then select Ok in the confirmation window.
- From an employee’s profile page, hover over the action wheel and select Masquerade.
