Marking an Employee Record as "Corrected" in BerniePortal
The IRS requires that for any record initially e-filed that needs to be changed, a "Corrected" indicator is present. Without this "Corrected" indicator, the IRS will not accept the correction, and the BerniePortal team will be unable to process the employee correction:
Above is an example of what happens when no employees are marked as "Corrected". No employees show available to send to the IRS for corrections, so the BerniePortal team is unable to proceed with the IRS filing.
To mark an employee record as "Corrected", you will need to do the following:
- Log into the employer account in BerniePortal.
- Click on "1094/1095" at the top of the page.
- Click "List".
- Find the employee whose information needs to be changed
- Hover over the action wheel and click "Edit":
- Update the fields that need to be changed
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select "Corrected Form".
- Push "Save Changes"
