Change HSA Amount
A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a valuable benefit to offer employees. Contributions can be made by an employer in addition to an employee’s own contribution, tax free.
Throughout the year, employees may want to adjust how much they contribute to their HSA. In this instance, employers and benefit admins can help make this adjustment upon request from employees. As a safeguard, an employee must be triggered for this change from the admin account.
To change HSA amounts:
- Locate the employee from the "Employees" list, hover over the action wheel next to their name, and select "Change HSA amount."
- This option will only be available for employees enrolled in this plan type.
- Proceed to unfreeze the employee's account. The employee's status will now display an "HSA" badge.
- Hover over the employee's action wheel and select "Edit HSA election."
- Proceed to login to the employee's portal and make changes to their HSA contribution. Determine when the change will take place and what the new contribution is, then select "Save Changes."
- While in the "HSA" status, employees can also login and complete Step 6 & 7 above.
- Changing HSA elections will update an employee's deductions in BerniePortal, as well as generate a new Election PDF.
