Terminating an Employee

When it’s time to cut ties with an employee, removing them from your company’s BerniePortal can be taken care of from the “Employee” list. As an employer or benefits administrator, you’re able to end the terminated employee’s benefits and payroll quickly.

To terminate an employee:
  1. Select the "Employees" tab in the top navigation menu.
  2. Find the employee's name and hover over their action wheel. 
  3. Select "Terminate."

  4. Use the calendar modal to select the employee's last day of work, select a termination reason (i.e. resignation, for cause, or other), and assign an "Offboarding Checklist" if desired. Selecting "Other" allows you to list a custom termination reason. 

  5. Select "Terminate."
  6. Terminated employees will remain at the bottom of the “Employee” list unless permanently deleted.

To permanently delete a former employee’s information from BerniePortal, click the actions gear next to the individual and choose “delete.” 
  1. Deleted employees will remain in your "Trash Can" for 30 days. Find deleted employees in the trash can icon in the upper right-hand corner of your admin account.
