How to Approve & Deny Time Edits
Time Approvers can efficiently manage employee-submitted Edit Requests through BerniePortal's streamlined approval system. Two convenient access methods accommodate different workflow preferences, enabling quick individual reviews or bulk processing as needed.
From the To-Do List
To access:
- Log in to BerniePortal as a Time Approver
- Select the Time category from the Home Page To-Do list
- Click on any employee's name to view their timesheet with pending edits

To manage time edits:
- Compare Time Entries- View both actual and requested time punches side-by-side
- Review Employee Notes- Click the thought bubble icon to view submitted justification
- Make Decision- Hover over the action wheel and select Approve or Deny

- Approved Edits- Display adjusted time with an exclamation point indicator
- Hover over the exclamation point to view edit summary (original time, adjusted time, and employee's reason)

- Denied Edits- System prompts for denial notification email as needed

- Original time punch remains with employee note preserved

From the “Other Time” Area
To access:
- Log in to BerniePortal as a Time Approver
- Select “Time” in the top navigation menu
- Select “Other Time” in the secondary menu
- Select “Edit Requests” in the left-hand menu

To manage time edits:
- Open Time edit requests will display in a table format for review- Approvers can manage edit requests from this area

- Employee- Request submitter's name (click to view detailed timesheet)
- Clocked Date & Time- Original punch time
- Requested Date & Time- Proposed correction
- Actions- Individual Approve/Deny options
- Use the Approve All button for quick batch approvals
- Click any employee name for detailed timesheet analysis
Pro Tip: The To-Do list method works best for detailed individual reviews, while the Other Time dashboard is ideal for processing multiple requests efficiently.
