Most carrier integrations become active within 60 days of being configured. However, the actual timeline can vary depending on several factors.
The 60-day timeframe begins when you toggle the integration On and enter the group number. During this entire period, the integration remains in Pending status and no automatic data communication occurs between BerniePortal and the carrier.
Several variables can influence how quickly an integration moves from Pending to Active:
Initial Enrollment Data Quality How effectively and quickly you communicate initial enrollment information to the carrier plays a significant role. Complete, accurate data provided early in the process helps speed activation.
Existing Carrier Relationships If you've already set up an integration with this same carrier for another employer, subsequent integrations with that carrier may activate more quickly since the initial carrier relationship and technical connection are already established.
Adding Benefit Types If the employer previously had an integration with the carrier but is now adding an additional benefit type (for example, they had medical integrated and are now adding dental), the activation may be faster than a completely new integration.
Carrier Processing Time Different carriers have different internal processes and timelines for validating and activating new integrations. Some may be faster or slower than others.
When implementing carrier integrations, it's important to set realistic expectations with your team and employers. While most integrations activate within 60 days, some may take longer. Having all necessary information readily available and ensuring data accuracy can help minimize delays, but the timeline is not entirely within your control.
