How is information communicated between BerniePortal and the carriers?
Carrier Exchange uses Ideon as the integration layer between BerniePortal and supported carrier integrations. BerniePortal sends information for configured integrations to Ideon, and Ideon returns status updates and processing errors to BerniePortal.
For a configured Carrier Exchange integration, BerniePortal can send:
- group and coverage-period setup information;
- plan information;
- subscriber and dependent information; and
- election information after benefits elections are completed.
Updates returned to BerniePortal
BerniePortal registers for coverage-period status changes, coverage-period processing errors, and qualifying life event status changes. When Ideon sends one of these updates, BerniePortal stores the notification and associates it with the related employee or employer when it can match the incoming information to Carrier Exchange records.
Handling discrepancies
When a Carrier Exchange notification is marked resolved, BerniePortal sends the resolution message to Ideon.
