Completing and Formatting the Employee Census - Guided Setup

All fields below in blue are required fields on the census. Be sure to use the template from BerniePortal, and do not alter any of the existing formatting.

  1. First Name

  2. Middle Initial

  3. Last Name

  4. Preferred Name

  5. SSN

  6. Street

  7. City

  8. State

  9. Zip

  10. Email

  11. Birth Date

  12. Hire Date

  13. Salary

  14. Salary Type - select an option from the dropdown menu.

  15. Hire Type - select an option from the dropdown menu.

  16. Job Title

  17. Gender - select an option from the dropdown menu.

  18. Time Zone - select an option from the dropdown menu.


When the spreadsheet is populated, follow the steps below to format the data you've entered on the census:
  1. Do not include the person who signed the MSA on the census. Their account was created when they signed the MSA.

  2. SSNs can be entered as 111111111 or 111-11-1111.

  3. Remove all commas and dollar symbols from employee salaries.

  4. States can be entered with the appropriate two letter abbreviation or the full name (TN or Tennessee).

  5. Gender can be entered as “Male,” “Female,” “M” or “F”

  6. Make sure birthdates are in mm/dd/yyyy structure.

  7. Make sure hire dates are in mm/dd/yyyy structure.

  8. To convert to the mm/dd/yyyy, use this formula =text(cell,“mm/dd/yyyy”).
